Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) provides opportunities for Indigenous university graduates, particularly those with qualifications in accounting, finance, law or business, to apply their professional knowledge and skills within a work environment.

Are you eligible?

We welcome applications from graduates all year round. To be eligible for a graduate position with IBA, you must be:

  • of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • a university graduate
  • an Australian resident
  • able to work from either our Canberra or Brisbane office.

Who is IBA?

Indigenous Business Australia is a progressive, commercially focused organisation that promotes and encourages economic independence for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

IBA employs more than 250 people from diverse cultural backgrounds and demographics. Interest and/or experience in the banking and finance sector, policy development and corporate services is often an advantage for a graduate position with IBA, while all positions require a strong customer service focus and compliance with IBA’s Code of Conduct.

IBA supports the employment, retention and advancement of Indigenous Australians in its work force. At present, approximately 24 per cent of IBA’s employees are Indigenous.

What are some of the benefits of a graduate position with IBA?

IBA graduates are given opportunities to apply and develop their professional knowledge and skills within a friendly and highly committed work environment, and gain valuable experience for a career in IBA or elsewhere.

Through meaningful, hands-on work, graduates can make a real contribution to achieving IBA’s objectives through either:

  • a structured development program with rotation through a variety of positions to develop a career with IBA, or
  • a permanent position or fixed term with an individual development plan that provides progression within a graduate’s area of professional skill.

The program also offers:

  • a salary set on the individual graduate’s skills and role
  • a flexible and supportive work environment
  • opportunities for working directly with Indigenous clients
  • the opportunity to be mentored by dedicated and professional colleagues
  • a competitive edge to career development
  • networking opportunities with other graduates
  • relocation assistance.
