Reconciliation Action Plan

Indigenous Business Australia’s (IBA) core business of supporting Indigenous Australians’ participation in the economy means that, in essence, all our operations are targeted towards reconciliation.

We actively demonstrate our commitment to reconciliation through our business, our people and our products.

We measure our contribution to reconciliation against specific commitments and performance indicators, in accordance with Reconciliation Australia (new window) guidelines. These commitments and indicators inform IBA’s core business and are integrated into our reporting structures.

IBA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2007-2009 (PDF 12KB, new window)  - focuses on pathways to increase Indigenous Australians’ access to financial and commercial opportunities that build wealth and financial wellbeing on the same footing as all other Australians.

The RAP covers areas such as promoting private sector engagement with Indigenous businesses, providing new economic opportunities in remote areas and cultural awareness training.

At June 2009, the majority of IBA’s RAP indicators and performance targets had been met or were on track. With the 2007-2009 period coming to an end, a revised RAP is being prepared for consideration by IBA’s Board of Directors.

A core reconciliation commitment is our annual IBA NAIDOC Week Breakfast, which brings together government ministers, IBA Board members, and representatives from the private sector, Indigenous groups, and other government departments and agencies to celebrate IBA’s achievements in Indigenous economic development and its contribution to the Government’s Closing the Gap (external website, new window) initiative.
