IBA’s CEO Chris Fry is helping raise much needed funds and awareness of homelessness by taking part in the 2013 Vinnies CEO Sleepout, sleeping rough in Fannie Bay Gaol in the Northern Territory.

This will be Chris’ third sleepout and with just a sheet of cardboard, a pillow and a simple sleeping bag, Chris will once again experience what it’s like to be homeless. Rain, hail, or whatever the weather, Chris will join other business and community leaders in sleeping outside to help the St Vincent de Paul Society to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia.

The sleepout takes place on Thursday 20 June in capital cities across Australia. It challenges business and community leaders to experience homelessness first-hand for one night to support this serious issue.

For more information visit the official St Vincent de Paul Society’s CEO Sleepout website below:

IBA offices around the country celebrate National Reconciliation Week each year between 27 May and 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey—the anniversaries of the successful 1967 referendum (27 May 1967) and the High Court Mabo decision (3 June 1992). The week also commences the day after National Sorry Day on 26 May.

The theme for National Reconciliation Week is Let’s Talk Recognition – with a focus on how Australians can better recognise each other, as well as the contributions, cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The nature of the work we do at IBA is important to Reconciliation. As we say in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) ‘Reconciliation is at the heart of our business’. Through our RAP we seek to enhance the relationships and respect that underpin our work with customers and with each other. We are committed to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, our business networks and the broader community, to achieve economic development outcomes and the common goal of reconciliation in Australia.
