![]() | Ian TrustMr Trust is a long term resident of the Kimberley area and has held a range of positions in Aboriginal and Community organisations throughout the north-west of Western Australia. He was administrator of the East Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service for three years.Mr Trust is an active member of numerous committees throughout the region and the state, covering a broad range of fields such as Aboriginal housing, land, education and health. Committee memberships include: Aboriginal Housing Board, Kimberley Aboriginal Aquaculture Corporation, Kimberley College of TAFE and the Aboriginal Lands Trust. Mr Trust is a Gidja man who was born on Moola Bulla Station, west of Halls Creek. He served as Chairperson on the former ATSIC Wunan (Kununurra Region) Regional Council for nine years and was instrumental in setting up the Wunan Foundation, established to develop economic initiatives in the region. His goals for the foundation include developing economic independence for the Kimberley people and focussing on youth and women in relation to employment and training. |
![]() | Leah ArmstrongMs Armstrong is a Torres Strait Islander from Mackay in Queensland who is Executive Director of the NSW-based Yarnteen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation.Yarnteen aims to encourage greater Indigenous participation in the broader economy and build capacity within communities. Yarnteen operates a successful bulk warehousing and bagging facility for bulk grains and fertiliser and manages a property investment company. Yarnteen employs 16 people of which nine are Indigenous Australians. As Executive Director, Ms Armstrong is assisting Yarnteen to expand its commercial ventures while encouraging further economic opportunities for associate organisations. Ms Armstrong actively promotes the need for Indigenous communities to be much more pro-active in ensuring the establishment of successful economic ventures within communities. Initially appointed for a period of two years, Ms Armstrong has twice been reappointed to the Board where she continues as a member of the Remuneration Committee. |
![]() | Bob Blair - Acting ChairmanMr Blair is Administrator of the Dreamtime Cultural Centre in Rockhampton in North Queensland, which is an innovative Indigenous business providing high-standard conference and motel facilities. He has held this position for the past 17 years and has a long background in providing Indigenous training services as a former Senior Training Officer with the Central Queensland Aboriginal Corporation for Training Resources.From 1961 and 1981 Mr Blair was a member of the Australian Army where he rose to the position of Warrant Officer Class 1. He served with distinction in Vietnam, Malaysia and New Zealand during which he received the following awards: Australian Active Service Medal Vietnam Medal; Australian Service Medal Defence Force Service Medal; National Medal Vietnam Star. Mr Blair is a past recipient of the Centenary Medal. He has been a Board member of IBA since 3 July 1998. As well as being Acting Chairman, Mr Blair chairs the Audit Committee and is a member of the Remuneration Committee. |
![]() | Jenny BoddingtonMs Boddington began her career as a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton before moving into the finance industry in the UK. She spent some years analysing engineering companies for Morgan Grenfell Asset Management in London but later transferred to investment banking where she spent 14 years advising companies on acquisitions, divestments, listings and capital raisings.Ms Boddington later joined DB Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Deutsche Bank, where she made investments on behalf of DB Capital Partners and held Board seats on various investee companies. Ms Boddington, who holds an honours masters degree in Metallurgy, Economics and Industrial Management from Oxford University, has been in Australia for more than a decade and is a naturalised citizen. She runs a consultancy business in corporate governance and business development. Ms Boddington is also a member of the Board’s Audit Committee. |
![]() | Judy HardyMs Hardy has considerable experience in the small business sector at managerial and board levels. She operates an independent national consulting business from Adelaide and is owner-director of three other businesses that operate abroad into China and Morocco.Ms Hardy is a member of a number of national committees that advises the Australian Government in a variety of areas including the Mental Health Council of Australia, the Strategic Planning Group for Private Psychiatric Services, the National Information Strategy Committee, the Australian Health Insurance Association Mental Health Committee, and the Housing and Homelessness Task Force. Ms Hardy holds qualifications in psychiatric and general nursing. She also has a Graduate Diploma in Health Administration and a Diploma in Teaching. Ms Hardy sees participation on the IBA Board as an opportunity to make a contribution to Indigenous economic development and particularly given her experience in business to offer support and advice to those who may be contemplating entry into the business sector. |
![]() | Priscilla CollinsMs Collins is the CEO of the CAAMA Group the largest Indigenous owned and operated multimedia organisation in Australia providing media services to the Indigenous and Non Indigenous community worldwide.Ms Collins focuses on promoting Indigenous culture, language, dance and music while promoting positive achievement of Indigenous people through Radio Broadcasting, RIBS, Independent Music Label, Productions (Film and TV), Shops and Television Broadcasting. In her role as the CEO, Ms Collins has lead the CAAMA Group into 21st century with a smooth transition into the digital age allowing CAAMA to continue to achieve the organisations social and economic objectives while setting new industry standards in Indigenous media. Ms Collins has also been the Executive Producer for the National Indigenous Documentary Series broadcast on ABC and SBS Television. Ms Collins created “Double Trouble”, the first ever Aboriginal Children’s Television Drama Series to be produced for a commercial network Channel 9 and Disney. Ms Collins holds a Master of Arts in Producing and was nominated for Telstra Business Woman of the Year in 2004. |
![]() | Gail Reynolds-AdamsonMs Gail Reynolds-Adamson is a Director of Kepa Kurl Pty Ltd, a locally-owned and private Aboriginal tourism company based in Esperance which operates eco-cultural discovery and adventure tours, an Aboriginal art gallery and gift shop, as well as a consultancy service which specialises in the delivery of Cross Cultural Awareness Training Programs.Prior to this Ms Reynolds-Adamson was the National Indigenous relations manager for Normandy Mining (subsequently known as Newmont Australia) and the National Manager of Telstra's Aboriginal & Islander Unit. She is currently on the Board of the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operator’s Committee (WAITOC), the peak Association representing Indigenous Tourism in Western Australia. The Board of Indigenous Community Volunteers (ICV) is an independent, not-for-profit company that offers support to Indigenous communities to pursue their community development goals in their own way. ICV is making a difference by providing volunteers who can transfer their skills to people in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations and finally she is a board member of her local tourism body Esperance Regional Toursim Association (ERTA). |
![]() | Peter ThomasPeter Robert Thomas was appointed to our Board on 24 September 2007 by the Minister The Hon Joe Hockey.Peter is a tax and business adviser based in Sydney. Until 2003, he was, for nearly 25 years, a partner of KPMG, the Big-4 Accounting and Advisory firm, where he specialised in corporate and international tax and the taxation in international executives. His clients included some on the biggest private and public sectors in Australia. Since 2004 he has conducted a tax and advisory practice is his own name and since January 2007, has been a director of TFG International Pty Ltd. TFG International is a boutique consulting and advisory firm, with clients in both the private and public sectors. TFG specialises in business strategy, hands-on management, policy development, organisational strategy and tactics, managing critical issues and facilitating mergers and capital restructures for its clients. Peter has a number of part-time roles including - * Member of the Innovation Australia and is the chairman of the Tax Concessions Committee of that Board. Innovation Australia is the Commonwealth government board which administers the funding programs (grants, tax concessions, loans, venture capital etc), through which the government encourages industry research and innovation and the commercialisation of that research. * Chairman of SAMI Group Holdings Pty Ltd, a substantial privately owned company whose focus in on innovative road technologies, products and contracting. * A Director of the Albert Music Group, a long established privately owned company operating in the music industry. * Formally a board member of ASX Listed Retail Cube Limited (code RCG), which owns several retail franchises. Peter is currently active in the community, currently serving on the following not-for-profit boards: * The Bluearth Institute - a privately funded foundation, which is addressing the health issues facing Australians as a result of our increasingly sedentary life-styles; * The Kokoda Foundation - a foundation dedicated to helping people who live along the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea; and * Centacare Foundation - a foundation linked with Centacare, the welfare arm of the Sydney diocese of the Catholic Church |
