IBA Partnerships

State Coordination

IBA’s business model is based on brokering effective partnerships between the private sector, Indigenous groups and individuals and government agencies.

In 2007 IBA appointed coordinators in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland to facilitate this important work at the state and regional level. These State Coordinators work closely with IBA’s programme areas to identify local economic aspirations and determine strategies for meeting these with real opportunities. They also provide senior representation at industry and key government forums to ensure that IBA can play its part in private sector and whole-of-government initiatives to improve economic development outcomes for Indigenous people.

State Coordinators facilitate local level implementation of new IBA policy initiatives that involve a range of community, industry and government stakeholders.

For example, under the Northern Territory National Emergency Response, IBA is implementing a range of measures to improve the economic participation of Indigenous people.
