IBA invests alongside Indigenous organisations in operating businesses in a range of sectors, including tourism and hospitality, retail, industrial (manufacturing, mining services and primary industries) and renewables. These investments generate financial returns, as well as employment, training and supply chain benefits for Indigenous Australians.
Investments in regional and remote areas make up more than 70 per cent of IBA’s share of the direct investments portfolio.
At 30 June 2016, the total value of the direct investments portfolio was $122.4 million. The total value owned by the thirteen Indigenous co-investors/ beneficiaries invested in the direct investments portfolio was $28.0 million.
