Renewable Energy in our Changing Economy

With the growing interest in the economic benefits of renewable energy, Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) brought together industry experts in the renewable energy field at an IBA Business Conversation in Cairns today.

Industry leaders met with representatives from local government, land councils and business representatives today to discuss issues such as renewable energy, carbon trading and Indigenous research in Australia that have particular relevance to Far North Queensland.

A visiting delegation of Canadian Indigenous leaders shared ideas on knowledge transfer and similarities between Canadian and Australian Indigenous business and Indigenous economic development issues, discussing issues such as Canadian business tools and models and how this can be adapted in this field.

IBA General Manager Ron Morony said that it is important for Indigenous Australians to know what is emerging and what the opportunities are in the carbon trading and renewable energy markets.
